- Started in 1994 Mansoura University Hospital main building by outpatient clinic and one bed in the general pediatric ward.
- In 1996 A pediatric peritoneal dialysis unit was constructed in the general pediatric ward to train parents for Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis and in 1998 CCPD was started in the unit using three cyclers.
- In 1999; the unit was transferred to Mansoura University Children's Hospital.
Nephrology and dialysis unit
It Contains 12 beds.
The dialysis unit blood contains(12)dialysis machine blood(organized about twenty patients washing three times a week)and 3 devices for peritoneal Dialysis.
Peritoneal Dialysis:
Started on 1996.
Total number of cases registered from 2004: 92 Cases.
Plasma Exchange:
started on 2003
Total number of sessions from 2003 to 2010 are 266 sessions.
The Unit services:
The unit provides diagnostic evaluations, medical treatments and follow-up for children with the full range of kidney and urinary tract diseases, including:
- Renal metabolic disorders
- Acquired and congenital kidney diseases
- Acute and chronic kidney failure
- Terminal kidney failure
- Nocturia (nocturnal enuresis)
- High blood pressure in children up to the age of 18
-We provide integrated care, and specialists from our Nephrology Department collaborate with doctors in other medical specialties to customize each patient's treatment program. Our team includes pediatric nephrologists, nurses, dialysis technicians and dietitians – all specially trained to treat children.
