The Cardiac Surgery Unit was established at Children's University Hospital in 2005. Since its inception, it has been serving patients with congenital heart defects by performing between five and seven cases per week between open-heart surgeries and closed-heart surgeries. The unit serves a number of more than 50 cases per week in the hospital’s outpatient clinics.
