Goals

Receiving, diagnosing and treating all emergency and non-emergency surgical cases for children up to the age of eighteen years of age, including performing the necessary surgical operations for these children. This includes all surgical operations, including those with special skill and operations that require great skill and efficiency. High These cases are followed up in the outpatient clinic. The unit serves the people of Dakahlia Governorate and neighboring governorates due to the lack of specialization in these governorates.

Operations performed by the unit:

Neonatal surgeries:

  • Congenital obstruction of the esophagus and congenital fistula between the trachea and the esophagus.
  • Congenital diaphragmatic hernia.
  • Stomach outlet obstruction.
  • Intestinal obstruction of its various types.
  • Congenital intestinal torsion.
  • Congenital obstruction of the anus.

Pediatric surgeries using surgical laparoscopy and thoracoscopy:

  • Diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy for impalpable undescended testicle.
  • Diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy for cases of sexual confusion and mixed sex.
  • Congenital hiatal hernia repair
  • Congenital megacolon.
  • Repairing intestinal torsion.
  • Varicocele in children.
  • Laparoscopic appendectomy.
  • Laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Digestive system surgeries in children:

  • Esophageal reflux.
  • Spleen resection
  • Cholecystectomy
  • Congenital anal obstruction using the posterior sagittal technique.

Pediatric plastic surgeries:

  • Cleft lip.
  • Cleft palate.
  • Congenital syndactyly.

Pediatric oncology surgeries:

  • Resection of kidney tumors and suprarenal gland tumors.
  • Resection of liver tumors.
  • Resection of ovarian tumors in children.
  • Excision of tumors of the sacral region and coccyx in children.

Sixth urology surgeries for children:

  • Lower urethral operations of various types. The unit is unique in performing the Koyanagi operation, which is one of the most modern lower urethral operations.
  • Repair of congenital defects of the bladder and anterior abdominal wall.
  • Upper urethral surgery.
  • Undescended testicle operations of various types.

The most important activities carried out by the unit:

  • The operation to separate conjoined twins Saber and Bilal by a medical team composed of pediatric surgeons headed by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Al-Ghazali Wali and with the participation of a team of neurosurgeons headed by A.
  • Holding scientific meetings for pediatric surgeons at the level of Egyptian universities, educational institutes, and military hospitals, sponsored by the Egyptian Society of Pediatric Surgeons, in the years 2005, 2007, and 2009.
  • Receiving a multinational volunteer medical team specialized in plastic surgeries for the cleft lip and palate for a week every year for four consecutive years (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011) with Waiting to receive
  • them on October 5, 2012 for a week, which will be the fifth time in a row.
  •   A group of anesthesiologists at the University Hospital, headed by Prof. Dr. Abdel Aziz Mutawa, cooperate with the Pediatric Surgery Unit
