The unit's microbiology laboratory performs immunological and microbiological diagnosis of various infectious diseases.
The field of medical care includes:
• Examination, diagnosis and treatment of children with infectious diseases (viral - bacterial - fungal - parasitic)
• Children infected with tuberculosis.
• Children with fever of unknown origin
• Children with Mediterranean fever.
• Children with immunodeficiency and recurrent microbial infections.
• Children with malnutrition diseases such as wasting, soft bones, and faltering physical growth.
• Supervising infection control within the Mansoura University Children Hospital.
• Monitors cases of infectious diseases inside the hospital.
Breastfeeding counseling (primary care).
• Irrigation and dehydration treatment for gastrointestinal infections (primary care).
• Participation in the nutrition policy for hospital patients.
• Cooperation with the marrow transplant unit.
Educational field:
• Training of resident doctors - postgraduate doctors - fellowship doctors - doctors sent from other parties.
• Specialized subject training for bachelor's, master's, and doctoral students.
• Conducting scientific seminars in the subject of specialization.
Research field:
• Conducting scientific research according to the department’s research plan.
• Conducting master’s and doctoral research in areas of specialization.
• Collaboration with other multidisciplinary disciplines.
• Conducting laboratory tests for patients and scientific research in the unit’s laboratory through techniques.
