Unit services:

  • The unit offers a variety of clinical and educational services.
    It diagnoses and treats various gastrointestinal diseases and liver diseases in infants and children using the following tools:
  • Upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy (Tuesday, Wednesday)
  • Liver tissue examination.
  • Esophageal manometry and anal manometry

Outpatient clinics include: Liver Diseases Clinic, Digestive Disorders Clinic, Milk Allergy Clinic, Gaucher Disease Clinic, and Hepatitis C Clinic.

. Intermediate care unit for gastrointestinal diseases

Steps for establishing the unit from 1986-2000:

  • Establishing an outpatient clinic in Mansoura University Hospital - for children with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and liver that receives these patients.
  • Establishing an endoscopy unit for children that performs upper and lower endoscopes for these children.
  • Follow-up of these patients closely to limit the progression of the disease as well as to prevent the occurrence of complications.

Steps for creating the unit from 2000 until now:

  • Follow up patients in the gastroenterology and liver diseases clinic two days a week (Sunday and Monday) due to the increase in the number of patients during that period.
  • Allocating special beds for children with diseases of the digestive system and liver.
  • Developing the unit to become the first unit to provide this service to children with diseases of the digestive system and liver in a scientific and service way at the level of Egypt.
  • Receiving patients with diseases of the digestive system and liver from all parts of the country.
  • A center specialized in children's gastroenterology and liver diseases has been established to provide distinguished services to patients in this field, as well as training young doctors from all over the Republic to limit the spread of these diseases to children.
